Q. We live on 2 acres and have some livestock, however, our neighbour has acquired 5 goats and they keep jumping the fence to get onto our land, and grazing the grass we have fenced off to feed our animals later in the year, i.e. summertime when it is very dry. We have told them to keep the goats on their side, and also complained to their real estate agent(they rent), but they pay no attention. Can anyone tell me what the position is? Asked by struthbunny - Sat Oct 4 03:51:19 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. I would try ringing the ranger of your local shire. If he catches the goats on your land he should be able to impound them. Or at least give you some advice. Make sure all your animals are 'legal' though before you get the shire out there. Q. the dog is a 4 year old working livestock guardiand dog. He currently is on pasture guarding his flock of sheep. I paid $500 for him as a puppy how do I determine an asking price? Asked by robert t - Tue Jun 19 22:32:24 2007 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. Based on my experience in owning several of these fine animals I would think about $500.00 is a fair asking price. The first 2 years is the learning curve and from age 3 to 8 are the prime years. Because of his slower metablism the dogs live 12-14 years. If the dog is doing his job properly and protects the flock I myself would not have an issue paying 500 dollars. I have owned 5 GP's and 2 were not good guardians so locating a good animal that does the job correct is the priority The loss of part of my livestock would well exceed the price paid for a fine dog.
