Bidding is an offer (often competitive) of setting a price one is willing to pay for something. A price offer is called a bid. The term may be used in context of auctions, stock exchange, card games, or real estate transactions. "Bidding up" means raising a price for an item by a series of rising bids. It may be unlawful, if done by a group of persons with an interest in raising the price. In traditional auctions, bidding up is a natural course of events. Since 1990s, with the emergence of online auctions, reverse auctions gained popularity, in which the traditional roles of buyers and sellers are reversed, and the goal of bidding is to drive the price down, similar to bid shopping practice of selecting a contractor to do a job. Q. My family just put a bid in on a house. Our realtor assures us that nobody else is interested in this particular house. How long does the bidding process usually take before you hear an answer (assuming that there is an answer)? Asked by Travis Bickle - Tue Nov 24 22:03:10 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. In your offer to purchase, there should be a date and time, usually no more than 48 hours, by which you expect an answer. This is only applicable if you are buying from a private seller. Banks, the government, and any house that is in a short sale could take much longer. Ask your Realtor what to expect in a case like this. Answered by dog ma - Tue Nov 24 22:22:01 2009 How do i retract a bid on ebay after the bidding time has ended?
Q. I bid on an item with less than a minute left before i saw the cost of the shipping almost $40,Stupid I no, and i tried to retract the bid but it said i can't once the bid has ended. What do I do now? Asked by Julia - Sun Jun 28 23:07:54 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. You will just have to contact the seller, via the messaging system that e-bay uses. Tell them what has happened and due to the circumstances you will not be able to afford the purchase. Apologise and tell them that they can re-list the item. Good luck!
