Assistance

What is recruiter's assistance in the Marine Corps, and how does one go about getting to do it?
Q. My boyfriend at boot camp asked me to do some research on recruiter's assistance. Does he have to talk to his original recruiter? Or ask about it at boot camp?

A. Your question about RA is actually pretty simple, I remember when i went through bootcamp they read off our orders and some of us Reported to School of Infantry or MCT after our leave and some went straight to SOI and a few people got Recruiters Assistance. You have to go down to his recruiting station and ask the recruiter he was recruited by if he can get him RA there will be some paperwork involved and they will have to send up orders to his bootcamp he can get anywhere from 17-23days of it and he will have to help recruit while he is home but he wont get charged leave, he can also do this after MCT.

Does public assistance have a negative affect on people with a Green card?
Q. My friend is so worried because she needs to be able to sponser her mother to come the the U.S.A but she would like to get food stamps and she wonders if bad things can come of it. She was asked on a job application if she ever got public assistance and she wants to know if there will be a record (like on social security or else where) that will be there to follow and haunt her so to speak. She works full time and has one child and she just need a little help but she is afraid. Please note any and all negitive afftects that haveing public assistance could cause, if any. Thanks!

What is Social Assistance and how does it work?
Q. I am seeking means to attend college and was told that if I live on my own I can apply for social assistance. I live in Alberta Canada. I am curious as to what it is, how it works and where to get more information on it. I do not want to be on welfare and will work withot attending school if thats what it is, so if social assistance is anything like welfare thank you anyways for the answers.

A. Here's a site: By the way, if you need it to help you get through school, there is no guilt in that. If you are diligent in school, you will soon afterwards find a job and move off the system. Sometimes the word welfare has a stigma to it, which comes about because some people get on it and never leave. You don't sound like that type of person. Although I'm in the states, I needed some financial help for a time, so I used the program that is there for just that purpose. I graduated, got a job, and no longer am on that system. If you don't abuse the system, again, there is no guilt in taking a few years benefits from it - that's what ideally it is there for in the first place - to help people get into the work force.
